10-18-16 Updates for Y'all!

Post date: Oct 18, 2016 9:55:42 PM

Hello Chorale troops! I have all kinds of info and reminders for you today:

T-shirts! They were delivered to classrooms this morning & should being coming home soon. Many thanks to Janet Choi for your assistance! 6th grade parents, if you chose not to re-order a shirt, please remind your sweet kiddo they already have one :) We will all “premiere” these shirts together next Tuesday, Oct. 25th (same day as our after school rehearsal). That day is for our members to wear their shirts to school all day long (w/ jeans, shorts, sweats are fine). We will be taking a group picture that afternoon.

NEXT Tuesday, Oct. 25th is our big After School Rehearsal and T-shirt Day! Students should come having lyrics memorized. Please ask your child how they are doing in this regard. We must now dive into choreography. Do not be surprised if you hear stomping and singing in the bathroom. I’m going to ask them to practice in front of mirrors. Remarkably, we only have four more weeks before Thanksgiving break to be performance ready. Thanks again for making our after school rehearsals a priority!

After School Rehearsal Pick Up/ Email Notications

Thanks for lining up carpool style at the north side of the building last month. And double thanks to those of you holding up your family name signs! Thank you also for special circumstances emails in regards to your student being absent, having permission to go with another parent, or reporting to after school academy, etc. For safety reasons, I will not be releasing students from carpool without prior permission from you. It’s super if those emails come before noon please.

At this point in the season, please encourage your kids to practice intentionally & with purpose. Singing along to the cds aimlessly, all the time can produce bad habits. Please understand me: I am really all for the sing-a-long in the van. But there also needs to be some concentrated, individual rehearsal time. The general music class selections for our Christmas concert are included on Chorale cds as well. This should give Chorale members an edge to learn those songs. Let’s be honest. These cream-of-the-crop Chorale students are musically talented and gifted. They also work extra hard. Sacrifice… determination… time…. concentrated effort: all to honor our Lord with excellence! Thanks for helping me instill the “We GET to do this” attitude with our students.

Parents, thank you so much for taking a minute to chat about these items with your student. Blessings to y’all on this fall day. Have a wonderful rest of the week y’all!
