12/4/13 Pre-Performance Update & Reminders

Post date: Dec 04, 2013 10:52:20 PM

Good evening Chorale & Jr. High Ensemble families!

The time is here! Woo Hoo! Your students are doing a fabulous job this week despite limited rehearsal time, different set-ups, different staging configurations, and the possibility of snow! Please know that I am purposely taking things a bit at a time, trying not create any information overload, nor any unnecessary performance anxiety for your children. Details regarding next week will be coming to them after Sunday. (As you know, next Monday and Tuesday are “down days” for Chorale & the Ensemble. Wednesday morning we are both on BEFORE SCHOOL 7:30 sharp for our final rehearsal) Your daily prayers are appreciated!

Thankyou Parent Helpers:

1. Prop Moms/Car Pool Escorts- Godaert, Anderson, Starpoli, Tae

2. Photographer- Curtis Farmer

3. I am still in need of finger desserts/cookies for the Jr High Party (Mon 12/16)

Weather Worries:

Should flurries fly, please stay close to your devices. I will send out any change of information to you as soon as available. At this time, I anticipate all systems go for both Thursday early evening and Sunday early afternoon.

NOW, REPEATED INFO & DETAILS REGARDING TOMORROW AT WASHINGTON SQUARE AND SUNDAY AT THE SHERATON AIRPORT:

TOMORROW, Thursday. Dec. 5th 5:55pm Call/ 6:00pm Perform at Washington Square (in the Sears courtyard)

1. Students arrive dressed in concert black pants and Chorale t-shirts. Ensemble is wearing school colors, dark pants. (Coats to mom & dad please!).

2. We will meet BEHIND the risers between 5:50-5:55pm in Sears courtyard. Having kids gather & hang out any sooner than 5 minutes beforehand is a big bummer. Let’s not get in the way of shoppers and stores. We want to be invited back. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW ANY CHORALE MEMBERS OR SIBLINGS ON THE RISERS AT ANY TIME. Another head’s up: we will need some floor space in front of the risers as our boys, girls & ensemble take turns performing. Therefore, please have siblings on the floor safely BEHIND the director music stand. Thanks so much for your extra help with this issue.

3. Please be careful not to create an exclusive "holy huddle", ignoring shoppers & passers-by. This is a community outreach event~ a gentle reminder that you will be able to see Chorale and the Ensemble again at the assembly and/or concert next week. Let’s represent Christ with dignity & common courtesy. Let the light of Christ be available for our community to witness as our students share!

4. If your child should be late, your student may join the SIDE OF THE FRONT ROW, BETWEEN SONGS ONLY. Please help them calm themselves before scooting in.

5. We will perform 7 songs starting at 6:00 sharp, after a brief photo op. Then we will sing “Silent Night” and "O Come All Ye Faithful". Please join us singing this familiar carol & chorus! We will repeat the chorus "For He alone is Worthy” as well. In the past, it has been simply awesome to worship our Lord together in this public setting. May we represent our Him with excellence & may He be glorified thru it all!

6. Students will then be released to you from the risers. Enjoy the mall. Wear those Chorale shirts and school colors proudly. Tip well. We GET to do this! Have a wonderful evening!

Sunday, December 8th – Wheel to Walk Luncheon at the Airport Sheraton!

1. Students need to be dropped off between 12:50-1:00pm at the front entrance of the hotel, 8235 NE Airport Way, Portland, OR 97220.

2. Students should arrive dressed in their concert black pants/Chorale t-shirts/school colors.

3. We are unable to facilitate drivers & waiting families in the hotel. Thankfully, there’s plenty of activity, shopping and food to be found moments away at Cascade Station.

4. Your child will be escorted in by an adult. We are scheduled to sing between 1:25-1:45. Due to the nature of this type of event, our actual performance time may vary by a few minutes.

5. Between 1:45-1:50ish, we should be loading up our students car-pool style, back again at the front entrance to the hotel. Thanks so much ahead of time for your grace in this matter.

6. I’m aware this service performance comes with a price to family time and I want you to know how much that is appreciated. Again, may we represent our Lord Jesus with excellence, and may He be glorified!

Thanks again & God bless you this evening! Keep those kiddos rested up & healthy!
