01-09-17 Snow Day Update & Requests

Happy snow day Lion King people!
I am sad to miss our rehearsals today, particularly with another “snowpocalypse” on the horizon...on Wed.... our other scheduled day of rehearsals. Never fear! I have a plan. And parents, you might even occupy your budding superstar if you print this out for them right now!
5th & 6th Graders:
-We will meet tomorrow, TUESDAY at lunch recess, 12:25-12:45 WooHoo!
-If there’s no school Wed, we’ll meet Friday, no problemo. Hakuna Matata!
-Please see EVERYONE notes below for listening & practice before tomorrow!
7/8 Cast:
-Tryouts for 3 hyenas postponed for awhile
-Rafikis see below.
-ALL: Goals for the Week, regardless of whether or not we’re together:
Learn African response (pt 2) of “Circle of Life” see below
Review short-long-short-med END OF PHRASES of “Hakuna Matata” chorus
Start listening & looking “One by One” You will sing part one, 5/6 will respond. (Oh my stars, but you got this...you’re young...go slow, really slow) Print out the attached pronunciation guide OR pick a yellow one up in the Music Room tomorrow, Tuesday!
Rafikis:
-12:50-1:15 tomorrow, TUESDAY during later pt of lunch. “Circle of Life”. You are the only ones singing part one and I’m counting on your young minds to lock into the African pronunciations. It’s tough. You can do it. Lead on.
5/6/7/8 EVERYONE:
-Please listen to “The Circle of Life”. You will sing pt 2, the response to Rafiki’s call:
-PRACTICE pronouncing

&

I will be the happiest director on earth if we can nail just those 2 lines this week!
Attached the overall African Language Guide for you to print & have at home. I have copies available for all students to use during rehearsals at school. I personally found LOOKING at the pronunciations WHILE LISTENING to the cd very helpful. What a challenge! What fun! WE GET TO DO THIS! Excellence continues to be our goal before our mighty God!
