1-16-15 Musical Important Information

Good afternoon Pirate families! Yo Ho!

In case you haven’t heard, our ship set sail this week with 82 members in the cast! They’re a salty crew of colorful scallywags, but enough pirate talk. I’m just so excited for this inaugural WHCS Spring Musical with 5th through 8th grade students combined. It’s going to be quite an adventure! Today I have a few general reminders so we’re all on the same page.

Weekly Rehearsals are twice a week for each student, during/around lunch:

Mondays Girls, Tuesdays Boys, Wednesdays All together

*Any changes or additional during-the-school-day times will be posted on the whiteboard outside of the music room, on the front board in the music room, and emailed to 5/6 teachers and 7/8th student emails.

*7/8th graders are dismissed @ 12:20 from 5th period, without reminders from their teachers. It is the responsibility of the student to remember rehearsals, as well as stay on top of any missed work, etc.

After School Rehearsals are once a month, mandatory, 3:00-4:00pm

0ur FIRST AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL is Tuesday, January 27, from 3:00-4:00. Students will be released at the north side of the building, carpool style, at 4:00pm. Please hold those name signs high & come along the curb up to the steps. I will NOT be releasing students upstairs OR releasing them to walk across the parking lot to cars because of safety & traffic issues. If you prefer, please park your car and walk over to us, then escort your cast member back to your vehicle. Thanks for your kind consideration in picking them up in a safe manner and on time. Students remaining after 4:15ish will be checked into after school care. As basketball season is in full swing, a gentle reminder that students are not to wait around, watch basketball games, hang out, etc., without parent supervision. Safety first for our precious students! Go Crusaders! I will remind parents of upcoming after school rehearsals monthly by email.

Auditions for parts will be held randomly during the school day rehearsals and announced to students weekly. Due to our extremely limited time, this process will take weeks and even so, individual attention given will be very short. This is a large group production with very, very few “parts”. I would appreciate your patience and prayers in regards to this matter. I desire complete cast unity and a caring team mentality. Excellence continues to be our goal..... in all things.... as unto the Lord. Thank you so very, very much!

OTHER TIDBITS:

*I anticipate asking for parent help with costumes, scenery, cast party, performance day details, etc. Fair warning, mateys!

*I encourage the short, but often use of the cds and lyric sheets. Lyrics are now available on the website, but will also be hard-copied for the cast. The first go out next week.

*I will send you a separate email with simply the link to all things SPRING MUSICAL.
