College Honors: 2-year letterman as a center and linebacker when BU posted a 15-3 record.

Coaching Experience: Coached 1959-1961 in six-man football at Covington, where team was 8-0-1 and mythical state champions; assistant coach at Clinton 1962-1963; head coach at North Vermillion 1964 with a 5-4-1 record; head coach at Shelbyville 1965-1967, compiling a 16-10-1 record; head coach at New Castle 1968 with a 3-7 record; assistant and head coach at Bloomington HS 1969-1971 and Bloomington South 1972-1973, with a record of 39-1; assistant coach of quarterbacks and receivers at Ball State University 1973-1976 and later returned to California; had an overall record of 86-27-3.

Coaching Honors: From 1969 through 1973 had a 50 game winning streak; selected Coach of the Year in 1972 when Bloomington South was voted State Champion; 1976 BSU team won Mid-American Conference Championship.

Outstanding Players Coached: Fred Avant, Shelbyville; at Bloomington - David Brown, Bill Armstrong, Mark Litz, Dobby Grossman, Wayne Vaught, Ralph Henry, Jim McNulty, Marc Lunsford, Kevin McDevitt, Bob Yost, Reed May, and Dave Reeve.

Special Recognition: Pushed hard for a state tournament through his position as co-founder and first president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association; was one of the prime movers in getting the association started.

Coach Sells passed away March 9, 1995.
