Roberta J. Harris DinsmoreNovember 22, 1930 - November 7, 2007

Roberta Jean (Harris) Dinsmore, 76, Crawfordsville, died 12:20 a.m. Wednesday in her residence.

Mrs. Dinsmore was an educator and school administrator in Indiana for 28 years. She became the first woman superintendent of schools in Indiana at North Vermillion schools in Cayuga. She later served as superintendent of the Rensselaer schools. After retirement from education, she served as executive director of the Danville, Ill. YWCA.

She attended First United Methodist Church, Crawfordsville, and Good Shepherd Methodist Church, Fort Myers, Fla.

She was born Nov. 22, 1930 at Junction City, Kan. to the late Clifford James and Ruth Edna (Hobson) Harris. On Sept. 6, 1950, she married James Charles Dinsmore, of Hobart. He survives.

Also surviving are her stepmother, Rosina Oberg; six children, Sandra Lee (Steven) Ross, Clifton, Va.; Lorraine Kathlene (Thomas) Tatum, Issaquah, Wash.; Robert Eugene (Sandra), Danville; James Scott, Chicago; Kurt (Jenifer) Allen, Covington; and Steven (Tracey) Win, Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister, Delores E. (William) Hunter, Mahattan, Kan.; two half-sisters, Marguerite Ingle; and Betty Lou Farrell; a half-brother, Clifford Harris Jr.; two stepbrothers; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Minister Dr. George Plasterer officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery, on Hwy. 63 and County Road 1550, Covington. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Burkhart funeral Home, Crawfordsville, and 4-8 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington.
