Grace Kirchoff

CAYUGA, Ind. - Grace Kirchoff, 95, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., formerly of Cayuga, passed away Tuesday (July 3, 2001) at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Born Nov. 7, 1905, in Rector, Ark., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Olivia Johnson Morris.

In 1935, Grace married Morris Kirchoff. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded by two brothers, Elead Morris and Rev. A. Earl Morris. Survivors include: a daughter, Karen (Jack) Hills with whom she had been staying of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a son, Michael Kirchoff of Danville; five grandchildren, Michelle Hills and James Hills, both of St. Louis, Mo., Jacqueline Nocher of Misawa Air Force Base Japan, Shane Kirchoff of Chicago and Adam Kirchoff of Henderson, Ky.; a great-grandson, Danilo Nocher; a brother, Rev. John C. Morris of Henderson, Ky.; a sister, Flora (Charles) Metzger of Booneville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Grace graduated from Carlisle High School and received her B.S. degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and her Masters from Indiana State University. She taught business courses for 46 years, retiring in 1973. Her teaching career began at New Ross High School, Cayuga High School then Hillsdale High School, Montezuma High School, Cayuga High School and retired from North Vermillion High School. From 1928 to 1935 Grace taught Physical Education as well as Business Courses. She was a former member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church and current member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Vermillion County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and a former member of the Delta Theta Tau, Eta Chi Chapter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 6 in Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Following cremation, interment will be in the family plot in Bethleham Cemetery in Carlisle, Ind.; Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Victory Academy, c/o of Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, N.Y. 12901.
