George O. Dietrich Jr.Feb. 10, 1927 - July 24, 2003

George O. Dietrich Jr., 76, Anderson, died July 24, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born February 10, 1927, in Mulberry and lived in the Anderson area for the last 12 years.

He was a 1945 graduate of West Lafayette High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in 1949 and his masters degree in 1956 from Ball State University.

He served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

He was a teacher/coach for Daleville, Steinsville and Cadiz schools and principal for the Orland and North Vermillion school systems, and a scout for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

He was a member of the American Legion and Alexandria Eagles. In the early 1950s, he formed a summer softball team for high school aged girls.

He is survived by his five children, twins, Becky Dietrich of Muncie and Debbie & husband Steven Riga of Columbus, Darlene Dietrich of Muncie; twins, Shawn & wife Eve Dietrich of Florida and Vaughn & wife Georgianna Dietrich of Anderson; sisters, Edith Goodnight of Rossville and Georgia Keller of Otterman; granddaughtersn Sarah Riga, Kristin Riga and Leah Dietrich; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, George O. Dietrich Sr. and Olivia (Parigan) Dietrich; and two brothers, Hank Dietrich and Charles Dietrich.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with the Rev. Mike Adams officiating. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post #266.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the South Chapel.
