Frederick Milton Landis

COVINGTON, Ind. - Frederick Milton Landis, 91, of Covington, died at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2003) at The Waters of Covington. A Covington resident since 1986, he formerly resided at Kingman and Dana.

He was born April 14, 1912, west of Dana, the son of Grover Cleveland and Sylvia Ingram Landis. He married Lois Marie Campbell Aug. 18, 1938, at Newport. She died March 31, 1993. Surviving are three children, Linda Landis of Houston, Texas, David A. (Marta) Landis of Covington and Lois Kathleen (Jeffery) Kurowski of Kokomo; a sister, Martha Madge Thorne of Dana; two grandchildren, Bryan Landis of Lafayette and Cara Landis of Covington. His parents and a brother, Hubert Harold "John" Landis preceded him in death.

He was a 1931 graduate of Dana High School and a farmer all of his life, retiring in 1979. He drove a school bus 24 years for Helt Township and North Vermillion schools. He managed Custom Farm Service at Cates several years. He was a member of Dana Knights of Pythias Lodge 247.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. EST Saturday, Dec. 6, at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST Saturday at the funeral home; Officiating: Pastor Tom Hunter; Burial will follow in Prairie Township Cemetery near Chrisman, Ill.
