John T. Yoho

Eugene, Ind. -- John T. Yoho, 69, of Eugene, Indiana, passed away at 4:55 p.m. EDT Friday, June 6, 2008 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born May 12, 1939 in the home he currently lived in, in Eugene. He was the son of the late Richie and Velma Kinderman Yoho. John was the first boy born in the Kinderman family in 52 years. He was named after his grandfathers, John Kinderman and Thaddeus Yoho. He married Peggy Axtell on July 26, 1958 at the Eugene United Methodist Church. She survives.

Other survivors include five sons, John Mark(Barbara)Yoho and Patrick Scott(Dawn)Yoho both of Eugene, Indiana; Gregory Lee Yoho of Veedersburg, Indiana; Jody Todd(Penny)Yoho of Cayuga, Indiana and Christopher Len Yoho of Eugene, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Andy(Kala)Yoho, Kelly Yoho, Emily Yoho, Heather Denhart, Travis Denhart, Seth Yoho, Amy Yoho, Justin Yoho and Zane Yoho; two great grandchildren, Evan Dallas and Aubrey Lynn Yoho; two sisters, Claire(Ben)Moore of Indianapolis and Phyllis Wilson of Cayuga, Indiana.

John retired from Inland Container in 1992. He was a member of the Vermillion County Council for 12 years and was currently serving as President. John was a 1957 graduate of Cayuga High School and a 1958 graduate of the Indiana Business College. He was a lifetime member of the Eugene United Methodist Church and was a current member of the Association of Indiana Counties, Inc. (AIC). He formerly served on the North Vermillion Corporation School Board. John was past President of the Eugene Harvest Days and a past member of the Cayuga Lions Club. John loved his family dearly and wanted them around him especially for Sunday dinners. He was very proud of his grandchildren and doted on his great grandson and great granddaughter. He loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, tinker with his old Case tractor and work in the garden. He liked to meet at the local gas station to talk and have coffee with old friends. John was a gentle man who never met a stranger.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Eugene United Methodist Church in Eugene, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Jon Overbey; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. EDT Monday, June 9, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
