Powell, Tracy D.

Marshall, Ind. - Tracy D. Powell, 55, of Marshall Indiana and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana passed away at 9:30 a.m. EDT Sunday March 8, 2020 at his residence.

Born September 15, 1964 in Danville, Illinois to the late Junior D. and Phyllis A. (Cheesman) Powell. Tracy was a 1983 graduate of North Vermillion High School.

Survivors include his daughter: Shasta R. Rice of Marshall, Indiana; one grandson: Austin J. Rice whom he raised from birth; two sons: Cody D. Powell of Attica, Indiana and Justin L. Powell of Greencastle, Indiana; one sister: Lori R. (Bill) Scott of Attica, Indiana and one step-sister: Theresa L. (John) Bushue of Covington, Indiana. Tracy also cared for two stepchildren Joshua and Bradley Carpenter.

Tracy was employed by Cayuga Elementary School at an early age and Harrison Steel of Attica, Indiana. He was also an avid auto mechanic in his early teens through adulthood as well as an avid junk scrapper.

Tracy enjoyed his family and spending time with friends, camping and tinkering in the garage.

Tracy was also an uncle to two special nephews: Bret M. Powell and Thomas Powell Scott and four other nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, three brothers: Kevin J. Powell, Steven W. Powell, an infant brother and one nephew, David Powell.

Tracy retired and lived the rest of his life in Marshall, Indiana with his daughter and grandson.

Funeral service: 1 p.m. EDT Thursday, March 19, 2020 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Hughes Cemetery in Perrysville, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Robert Barger; Visitation: 11 a.m. EDT until time of service Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the funeral home. The family kindly asks that donations be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is honored to be caring for the Powell family.
