PERRYSVILLE, Ind. - Sheryl Sue Kane, 54, of Perrysville, passed away unexpectedly at 7:18 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Provena USMC, Danville. Funeral services: 10 a.m. (Illinois time) Friday, March 24, 2006, at Pape Memorial Home and Gardens in Danville; Visitation: 3-7 p.m. (Illinois time) Thursday, March 23, at Pape's. Burial: Hicks Cemetery; Memorials: M&W Saddle Club, P.O. Box 22, Danville, IL 61832.

She was born Sept. 13, 1951, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of Glenn and Sally (Keller) Smith. She married Mike Spring in December, 1971 and later married Jack Kane on June 15, 1991.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; one son, Shawn Spring of Covington; two stepdaughters, Deanna and Jennifer Kane of Perrysville; a granddaughter, Madison Spring, the special love of her life; a brother, Dennis (Carol Gebbink) Smith and a sister, Shelia (Jerry) Walters of Perrysville; sister-in-law, Sharon Kane of Champaign; eight nephews and a niece; three aunts and several cousins. She was preceded by parents and a sister, Sherri White in 1980.

Sheryl attended Perrysville Grade School and graduated in 1969 from North Vermillion High School. She had worked at Covington Sewing Factory until she went to work at Heatcraft in 1987. She was a member of M&W Saddle Club and I&I Saddle Club. Sheryl was a talented artist and shared her pictures, paintings and drawings with her family which we will cherish.

She had a special talent and love for all kinds of animals. She especially loved her horses and riding with her friends; she looked forward to the yearly trail rides. She liked spending time every October at the Covered Bridge Festival and other flea markets. Sheryl loved her family and friends and especially liked family get-togethers. She loved reminiscing and telling stories which brought us many times of laughter. We love her and will miss her very much. She was deeply loved by her family and close friends.
