H. Allen Runner

H. Allen Runner, 88, of Danville passed away on November 26, 2023 at Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL.

Al was born on November 11, 1935 the son of Lomer and Edith (Gearhart) Runner in Macomb, IL. He married Nancy “Nanc” Baum on February 12, 1961 and she preceded him in death on June 14, 2014.

Al is survived by his children, James Runner of Milford, IL and Kari Peelman of Danville, IL, six grandchildren, Brandon (Kaylee) Runner, Chad, Tyler and Clara Runner, Alissa (Kris) McCarter and Cody (Sarah) Peelman, three great grandchildren, Liam, Johah and Aiden Runner and one sister, Jenny (Don) Mitchell of St Joseph, IL.

Al is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nancy “Nanc” Runner as well as one brother, Jake Runner and three sisters, Iris Welsh, Margery Thompson, and Dorothy Clark. 

Al was an Independent Insurance Agent for many years owning and operating the H. Allen Runner / Trans-Continental Insurance Agency in Danville, IL. Al was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriner’s, Elks Club, AMBUCS, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and the ILLINI fan. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, looking at antique cars, and assisting with AMBUCS activities. Most of all Al loved spending time with his family and could be found attending his grandchildren’s sports activities on the softball or soccer fields.

In Honor of Al, the family kindly request that attendees of his services wear St Louis Cardinals or ILLINI gear to celebrate him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Pastor Adam Harmon will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Allen’s memory to the AMBUCS or Lakeview College of Nursing.
