Maxfield, Richard Lee

Danville, Ill. - Richard Maxfield, 72, of Danville, passed away at 2:55 a.m. CDT Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at his residence.

He was born June 1, 1949 in Clinton, Indiana the son of the late Kenneth G. and Mary E. (Phipps) Maxfield.

Richard married Maryl Ann Abbed on June 29, 1991 in Danville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 2, 2019.

Survivors include his daughter: Mary Ann Maxfield of Sterling, Illinois; four sons: Shane Maxfield of Danville, Illinois; Ken (Michelle) Maxfield of Rock Falls, Illinois; Donald Maxfield of Catlin, Illinois and Richard Lee (Margie) Maxfield, II of White City, Oregon; several grandchildren; brother: Rodney (Tena) Maxfield of Clarksville, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by two brothers: Donald Maxfield and Charles Ray Maxfield.

Richard was a truck driver. He last drove for McLane Trucking in Danville, Illinois. He was a Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Navy. Richard graduated from North Vermillion High School in 1967. He enjoyed golfing, spending time outdoors and mowing his yard.

Graveside service and burial with honors: Monday, June 7, 2021 at 2 p.m. CDT at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, Illinois. There will be no visitation. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements. Condolences: www.deverterfuneralhome.com.
