Cayuga, Ind. - Rex L. Loden, Sr., 66, of Cayuga, passed away at 5:29 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was born June 9, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late John Esten and Daisy Mae (Ellis) Loden.

Rex first married Karen D. Whitlock on September 6, 1980 in Grapecreek, Illinois. She preceded him in death on May 28, 2006. He later married Teresa A. Maxfield on May 15, 2010 in Cayuga, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2018.

Survivors include his fiancée`: Debbie Hicks of Cayuga, Indiana; children: Amy (Todd) Campbell of Williamsport, Indiana; Johnny Loden of Danville, Illinois; Michelle Johnson of Pass Christian, Mississippi; Tony (Lisa) Loden of Cayuga, Indiana; Tara Loden of Danville, Illinois; Tia Loden of Cayuga, Indiana, and Rex L. (Katelyn) Loden, Jr. of Cayuga, Indiana; two step children; twenty-two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters: Janey (Allen) Mertz of Rossville, Illinois; Linda (James) Corley of Danville, Illinois; Patricia Phillips of Danville, Illinois; Diana (Vern) McDaniels of Cayuga, Indiana, and Rita (Droopy) Hays of Cayuga, Indiana; brother-in-law: Dale (Paula) Maxfield of Cayuga, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.

Rex was preceded in death by his daughter: Juletta Irene Loden; grandson: Lincoln James Loden; four half brothers and one half sister.

Rex retired from MasterGuard in Veedersburg, Indiana as a Forklift Driver. He was a member of the Cayuga Community Holiness Church and a 1969 graduate of North Vermillion High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Marine Corps. Rex was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Post #263. He enjoyed working on computers, playing his guitar, woodworking, singing, watching storms (storm chasing), feeding his squirrels, mushroom hunting, and making people laugh. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services: 3 p.m. EDT Sunday, July 1, 2018 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. James Blue; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana with military honors; Visitation: 1 p.m. EDT Sunday, July 1, 2018 until time of services at the funeral home.
