COVINGTON, Ind. - Florence A. Aldrich, 87, of Covington and formerly of Cayuga and Silverwood, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 17, 2003) at The Waters of Covington in Covington, where she had resided since 1999.

She was born March 4, 1916, in Howard Hollow, Ill., (now Forest Glen Preserve), the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Howard Billings. Florence married Charles R. Aldrich on Sept. 19, 1934, in Eugene. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1999. Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy (Dewey) Holycross of Silverwood; one son, Robert E. Aldrich of Danville, Ill.; six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby (Albert) Garwood of Georgetown, Ill. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy Cook.

Florence was a cook for the North Vermillion School Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 1984. She was a 1934 graduate of Georgetown High School and a member of the Country Side Baptist Church in Tangier. Florence enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her children.

Services: 12 noon EST Friday, Dec. 19, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga; Officiating: Pastor Paul Kent; Burial: Hughes Cemetery in Perrysville; Visitation from 11 a.m. EST Friday until the time of services at the funeral home; Memorial contributions may be made to The Waters of Covington, 1600 East Liberty St., Covington, IN 47932.
