Crowder, Richard Leon

December 12, 1960 - June 19, 2021

Kingman, Ind. - Richard "Rick" Leon Crowder, 60, of Kingman and formerly of Clinton and Newport, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 19, 2021at 9:40 p.m. EDT at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

He was born December 12, 1960 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of the late Cora Marie (Williams) McArty and Richard D. McArty.

Survivors include his father: Charles B. Crowder of Kingman, Indiana; three sisters: Artie (Gary) White of Linton, Indiana; Elsie (Terry, Sr.) Myers and Vickie (Bob) Hargrave both of Newport, Indiana; three half sisters: Kim (Dewaine) Bowling of Veedersburg, Indiana; Candy Crowder of Dana, Indiana and Ladonna (Gary) Edmiston of Veedersburg, Indiana; two step sisters: Abbey McArty-Box and Alison McArty; half brother: Carl (Jamie) Crowder of Linden, Indiana; step brother: Danny Cummings, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his niece: Jessica Nicole White.

Rick was a former Reserve Deputy for Vermillion County, Indiana, and a former volunteer for the Clinton Fire Department. He also formerly worked for the City of Clinton on the Street Department and Army National Guard. He attended the Grace of God Fellowship Church in Kingman, Indiana. Rick was a graduate of North Vermillion High School and a member of the Newport Lions Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends.

Funeral services: Noon EDT Thursday, June 24, 2021 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Tim Lyons; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT Thursday, June 24, 2021 until time of services at the funeral home. Following services a meal will be served at the Newport American Legion.
