Fortner, Mark A.

Mark A. Fortner, 58, of Newport, passed away at 1:35 a.m. EST Monday, December 7, 2015 at Clinton Gardens in Clinton, Indiana.

He was born March 9, 1957 in Clinton, Indiana, the son of Annabelle Wallace Robertson and Donald C. Fortner.

Survivors include his mother of Newport, Indiana; three brothers, James(Jane Burke)Fortner of Madison, Wisconsin; Dan(Peggy)Fortner and Glenn Robertson, both of Newport, Indiana; step sister, Lucinda Sowers of Newport, Indiana; two step brothers, Steven(Brenda)Robertson of Cayuga, Indiana and Donn(Donna)Robertson of Newport, Indiana.

Mark was preceded in death by his father; step father, Billy Joe Robertson and step brother, Paul Robertson.

Mark worked as a walking guard at the former Inland Container before retiring.

He was a member of the Newport Church of God and a 1975 graduate of North Vermillion High School. He received his Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Vincennes College. Mark enjoyed Facebook and reading.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. EST Thursday December 10, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. There will be no funeral services. Cremation will be accorded follow visitation with burial of cremains to be held at Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indian at a later date.
