RICKY E. ‘RICK’ HOWARD

Ricky E. “Rick” Howard, 54, of Danville, passed away at 9:26 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

He was born March 21, 1954, in Danville, the son of Ewell (Jude) Howard and Marcella (Pierson) Howard, both deceased.

On Sept. 20, 1980, Rick married Diane Davis at the Forest Glen County Preserve in Westville. She survives, along with their children, Marc (Lori) Davis of Danville, Brenda (Tom) Taylor of Westville and Cindy Stine (Greg Drullinger) of Danville. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Mark (Renae) Stine, Brett (Amber) Stine, Lucas Taylor, Emily Taylor, Zachary Davis, Michaela Davis and his great-grandson, Maddax Stine; his two brothers, Butch (Bev) Howard and Duane (Hope) Howard; and his five sisters, Mary (Mike) Eberly, Jane Cook, Pam (Junior) Young, Diane (Rick) Bacon and Judy McCune; and his favorite aunt, Pauline Such. His brothers, Richard “Dick” Howard, David Howard and Ronnie Austin, preceded Rick in death.

Rick was a graduate of Danville High School and worked as an operating engineer for Local 841 of Danville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodcarving and racing RC cars and stock cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and being involved in their lives to the fullest. Rick formerly owned and operated Fog Archery bow shop in Danville.

A celebration of the life of Rick Howard will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rick’s name to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter and/or the Vermilion County Museum.
