Bush Blessing, Sue Ann

Carmel - Sue Ann Blessing, of Carmel, IN passed from this life on September 4, 2018 aer a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Sue Ann was born on September 23, 1949 in Terre Haute, IN to the late William and Helen Bush.

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Walt of Indianapolis.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jim; brothers-in-law, Tom (Dawn) Blessing and Mark (Janet) Blessing; sister-in-law, Anita Bush; nephew Matthew (Susanne) Bush and children Rachel, Will and Jake and niece Adrienne (John) Rogers and children Lindsay, Tristan and Kyle.

Sue Ann was a graduate of Indiana State University where she earned a degree in accounting and subsequently earned the CPA designation. Aer graduation she began a 26-year career in bank regulation beginning as the first female bank examiner for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in Indiana. She was promoted to Vice President and Supervisory Agent for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis with supervisory responsibility for several of the largest thrift institutions in the nation.

With her husband Jim, she traveled to all 50 states and visited nearly all 412 National Park and related sites. They also enjoyed overseas travel including her favorite countries New Zealand and Norway. Sue Ann was engaged in many civic and volunteer causes, including Master Gardener's program, Impact 100 Greater Indianapolis and Assistance League of Indianapolis.

She loved gardening, hiking, music, and her dogs Roscoe and Dakota. She was an accomplished musician playing the clarinet and piano. In 2012 she competed in the World Choir Games (Olympics for singing) with 154 other women from five states and was awarded a gold certificate. In addition, she was an enthusiastic Beatles fan dating back to 1964. Sue Ann was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Carmel and enjoyed singing in their choir.

Family and friends are invited to gather Sunday, September 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, and on Monday September 10 from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Carmel.
