PERRYSVILLE, Ind. - Nikke Jane Baker, 52, of Perrysville, Ind., died at 10:06 p.m. EST Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2000) at her home, having been seriously ill three months. She had been the newsroom receptionist at the Commercial-News for eight years.

She was born Jan. 29, 1948, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of Leo and Carmie Smith Fultz.

She was a life resident of the Perrysville area and graduated from North Vermillion High School in 1966 and Indiana State University.

Nikke married Jacob T. Baker Aug. 12, 1967, in Cayuga, Ind. He survives. Also surviving: her mother of Perrysville; seven children, Jacob T. Baker Jr. of Mohave, Ariz., Nathan Patrick Baker of Perrysville, Kathleen Frechette of Covington, Daniel Scott Baker of Perrysville, Joshua E. Baker of Perrysville, Amanda Baker and Christina Baker at home; two sisters, Freda Fultz of Port Allegheny, Pa., and Jeannie (Kerry) Lamb of Disputania, Va.; one brother, Mack (Brenda) Fultz of Perrysville; one half-brother, Richard (Anna Lou) Fultz of Cayuga; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary and Solidarity Society, and taught CCD classes. She was the church organist for many years.

Funeral mass: 10 a.m. EST Saturday, Dec. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington; Officiating: Father Charles Kline; Visitation: 4:30-8:30 p.m. EST Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, with Rosary at 8:30 p.m.; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery in Covington.
