WESTVILLE — Judith E. (Phelps) Moody, 61, of Westville, passed away at 3 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton.

She was born Sept. 26, 1950, in Paris, the daughter of the late Lessie V. and Barbara L. Howard Phelps.

Survivors include two daughters, Nicole Short, of Hanover, Ind., and Angelene Nickle, of Covington, Ind.; one son, Vincent (Dawn) Short, of Newport, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Storie Nickle, Gianna Ingargiola, Addonis Ingargiola, Dylan Short, Oliva and Sydni Hass, Ashlie Wieck, Raelee Merryman and Shelby Robertson; two great-grandchildren, Kyra and Railyn Wieck; one sister, Chris (Tom) Beaven, of Clinton, Ind.; six brothers, John (Vickie) Phelps, of St. Bernice, Ind., Leonard T. (Patti) Phelps, of Cayuga, Ind., Stephen “Steve” (Cindy) Phelps, of Dana, Ind., Anthony W. (Lori) Phelps, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael R. (Cheryl) Phelps, of Cayuga, Ind., and Joseph M. (Traci) Phelps, of Dana, Ind.; and a special friend, Jami Haas of Westville.

Judith was in quality management at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville, retiring in 2005. She was a 1969 graduate of North Vermillion High School.

Judith enjoyed sewing, cooking, decorating, bowling and volunteering a lot of her time. Judith was a friend to many people. She was very humorous and courageous.

Judith was a very dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed.

Per Judith’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life dinner will be 3-6 p.m. EDT Saturday, May 19, at Cayuga Christian Church Youth Center.
