James H. Grubbs

February 22, 1961 - May 4, 2002

PERRYSVILLE, Ind. - James H. Grubbs, 41, of Perrysville, died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (May 4, 2002) at USMC, Danville, Ill.

He was born Feb. 22, 1961, in Danville, Ill, the son of Harold and Ima Jean Cole Grubbs, who survive. Also surviving: a sister, Vicki R. Hartman (Rick); two brothers, Steve W. (Eileen) Grubbs and Randy G. (Georgia) Grubbs; two nephews, Joshua Hartman and Jesse Grubbs; four nieces, Kylie and Ashley Hartman, Rhiannon Grubbs and Kasie Bennett. Surviving Grandmother Freida Ruth Grubbs and Grandfather James Paul Cole. Three aunts, one uncle and five cousins.

James was a 1979 graduate of North Vermillion High School. He worked as a Union Laborer and Carpenter, as well as for the United Parcel Service, and most recently was self-employed. He was a member of the Indiana Military Vehicle Preservation Association and the National Rifle Association. He loved to hunt and was a natural marksman with both a bow and a gun. James was also an avid collector of militaria, and loved to restore vintage Jeeps. His detail and craftsmanship was widely known and appreciated. He was a caring generous person, loving son, brother and uncle. James will be dearly missed.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga; Officiating: Rev. Andy Spencer; Burial: Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7 at the funeral home; Memorials: American Cancer Society for Melanoma Research.
