NORMAL — Dale E. Farr, 58, Marshall, formerly of Kansas, Ill., passed away at 10:07 p.m. Sunday (July 17, 2011) in Normal. He was retired after a career of more than 30 years as an educator and school principal.

A service celebrating his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kansas United Methodist Church in Kansas. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery, north of Kansas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. Templeton Funeral Home, Kansas, is in charge of arrangements.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to an education fund in his name for the benefit of his grandchildren at Edgar County Bank & Trust of Kansas.

He was born Jan. 6, 1953, in Paris, Ill., the son of the Robert Dean and Alta Jean Hawkins Farr.

Survivors include a son, Jason (Stephanie) Farr, Lincoln; a daughter, Erin (Jason) Estes, Bloomington; a brother, Kenny Farr, Ashmore; a sister, Diana (Albert) Ellington, Kansas, Ill.; four grandchildren, Alex and Jordan Farr, and Kayla and Katelyn Estes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Farr earned his bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees, all from Eastern Illinois University.

He first taught at North Vermilion High School in Indiana and Rankin High School in Illinois before serving as principal at Lovington, Edinburg, Raymond-Lincolnwood, Streator Woodland and Marshall high schools. He was a member of Lovington United Methodist Church and the Illinois Principals Association.

He loved spending time with his friends and his family, especially his grandchildren.
