Michael Lee Murdock, 66, of Georgetown and formerly of Cayuga, Indiana passed this life at 9:40 a.m. CST Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Michael was a lifelong resident of the area, born on January 6, 1951 in Danville, Illinois, the son of Howard L. And Betty J. Murdock. He married Kimberly J. Hershberger on June 22, 2000. She Survives.

Michael is survived by his mother, Betty (Tom) Nolen-Rodriguez of Danville, Illinois; sons, Michael L. (Denise) Murdock of Westville, Illinois; Randall A. (Sabrina) Murdock of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Ronald Jason (Holly) Murdock of Kingman, Indiana, Indiana; step-daughter, Tabitha Dyer of Attica, Indiana; step-son, Joe (Tanya) Cope of Hillsboro, Indiana; brother, Greg (Cindy) Nolen of Gessie, Indiana; sister, Nancy Murdock of Raleigh, North Carolina; niece, Karen R. Norman; nephews, Sam Foster; Emery Foster, and Kevin A. Copsy; twenty grandchildren, Doug; Rachelle; Destiney; Michael; Jacob; Aundrea; Victoria; Aurora; Vanessa; Daniel; Tyler; Adrianna; LeeAnna; Ana; Jonus; Ethen; Bruce; Romin; Trinity and Grissom; six great-grandchildren, Jayden; Anessa; Melanie; Aidyn; Jace and Xavier; two more to come soon, and longtime friend, Mike Morgan.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Howard Murdock; George Nolen, Jr.; Lois Murdock; grandson, Randall Murdock, II, and former wife, Louise Hutson.

Michael was a graduate of North Vermillion High School class of 1969, and received his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1987. Michael was a 38 year member of the Freemason's (32and Degree) and belonged to the Perrysville Unity Lodge #344. He was also a member of the Terre Haute Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite #114. He worked as a machinist in his early years before becoming a teacher and retiring in 2010. Michael had a large love of sports, primarily baseball (Baltimore Orioles and Atlanta Braves), diehard Hoosier basketball fan, and football (Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts). Michael enjoyed coaching youth sports from little league baseball, high school baseball and softball, even time as a basketball coach. Above all Michael loved his family and friends whether he showed it or not, and he lived for his boys. Michael is gone to soon, but in our hearts forever. To help others, Michael was a donor through the Illinois Gift of Hope.

Funeral services: 1 p.m. EDT (Indiana) Thursday, March 16, 2017 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor's Troy Horne and Garry Farris; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EDT (Indiana) until time of services with Masonic Rites by the Perrysville Unity Lodge #344.
