After the drama of the last ten days, it was nice to relax and enjoy Christmas. We went to the morning service at Cowley Road and then Stan and Sylvia came back to dinner with us. Eddie and Crystal opted for their own family lunch with the kids, and then Eddie brought Ricky and Abigail over in the afternoon while Crystal went in for the late shift. Nathan and Georgia came over for the afternoon too, and their Rachel had a great time playing with Ricky and Abigail.
Then this afternoon Gavin called Peter, asking him to go over. It seems that Chrissie had been keeping herself going by occupying every waking moment with activity: baking treats for everyone, knitting warm winter woollies for the homeless crowd and preparing stuff for their Christmas party. Now that’s all over, Kenny’s death has finally struck home. According to Gavin, she’s been up in his room, sitting on the bed nursing a teddy bear ever since she got back from there this afternoon. Naturally, Peter agreed to go over at once. Lucy wanted to go too, but in the end we agreed that I’d go with Peter and she’ll stay to look after Jonah, and put him to bed if we have to stay late.
