It was tremendously cold today. It took ages to scrape the frost off the car before we could set off for court this morning.
Stella gave evidence today. She looked petrified, but she spoke up OK and coped with cross-examination from Shane Butler’s QC remarkably well. I hope he goes a bit easier on Yvonne Whittle when it comes to her turn!
The judge is a woman: The Honourable Ms Justice Bassett QC. She seems a sympathetic sort of person. She intervened when the defence counsel was getting rather aggressive with Stella and she glared at Stuart Hatton when he seemed to be smirking when she had to admit to not having seen Shane’s face when he was driving the car.
