I think Mum was pleased to see me - although she didn't say much. She wouldn't take the apples - something about Grandma Paige not letting her take fruit out of the garden. I wonder if they really didn't get on. Grandma Paige was always very strict, but was it bad enough to make Mum want to leave?

I hope she liked the flowers. She told me I shouldn't have bothered, but I expect she was pleased underneath. She doesn't want to be a bother to me, I think.
