24th December 2021

We’re off to midnight mass tonight, because we want to support Father Damien who’s having a rather horrid time trying to look after his flock without exposing any of them to unnecessary risk of catching COVID, but then we’re planning to do our own home-made service for Christmas morning to avoid mixing with too many different people. We’re all double-jabbed and boosted, and the omicron variant is officially considered to be less dangerous than previous ones, but it’s still not something that we’d want Jonah to catch – or Stan and Sylvia either. We’ve all taken Lateral Flow tests to be on the safe side before going to church, and that ought to mean it’s safe for them to come round for Christmas Dinner as planned. So, this Christmas will be a lot more normal than 2020 was, but we still don’t feel very much Christmas cheer, to be honest.
