While not exactly back to normal, we did have a better Christmas dinner than last year. Stan and Sylvia came round this morning and we sang some hymns and read the usual Christmas Morning Bible readings, and Stan said “a few words”, which is his way of saying that he preached a sermon. Then we had dinner together before Eddie came round with the grandkids for the afternoon. Crystal was working. They’re so short-staffed at the moment because of nurses begin off with COVID that almost everyone who’s still fit had to be on duty over Christmas. So far, both she and Eddie have manged to avoid getting COVID, although Ricky got it from school last term. That was before the omicron variant became prevalent, so presumably it was a less transmissible kind. They seemed to have a good time and enjoyed pulling crackers at tea-time. We must be getting old, because I have to admit that it was quite a relief when everyone went home and it was just the three of us again!
