It’s good to be back in Liverpool (Liverpool town, where I was born!) Lucy seems to be in fine spirits, but she claimed that she was looking forward to being home and seeing Peter and Jonah again. I suspect that this was largely diplomatic, because she seems very attached to her friends up here – especially, dare I say it to Ibrahim! Neither of them has said anything, but I won’t be a bit surprised if we end up with a double wedding at such times as the girls are both ready to look beyond finishing their medical degrees. But then again, maybe I’m making too much of things and they’re just good mates.

We’ve packed most of Lucy’s things in the car ready to head back straight after lunch tomorrow. Ruth insisted on giving us all lunch. I don’t know if it’s in my honour or because she wants an excuse to get Dominic to go back home for a “proper” meal. If the supper that Lucy and Maryam cooked for us this evening is anything to go by, she should stop worrying. He’s going to be just fine!
