I spent the morning pottering round the house unable to settle to anything. It all seems a bit pointless being neither at work nor in Bernie’s company. When it got to the afternoon I rang her and asked her to come over, but she’d agreed to go to tea with Peter and Angie Johns. Apparently, their boy, Eddie, relies on her to help him with his homework. I shouldn’t begrudge them their share in her, but I have to admit to feeling pretty fed up that she wasn’t free to be with me. If I was forty years younger I’d start thinking I must be in love!
