Andy Lepage called round just before teatime this evening. He’s been given his first murder enquiry since become a DI. Jonah was dead chuffed to be consulted about it, even though it looks as if it’s shaping up to be pretty routine. A young black man has been knifed to death in the street. There are a few unusual aspects though. For a start, Goose Lane (the little road that runs between the back entrances of Lichfield and Holy Cross Colleges) isn’t a very normal haunt of street gangs. And he doesn’t look like an ordinary gang member: my theory (based on the photograph that Andy showed us) is that he might be resident in one of the colleges. If I’m right, it shouldn’t take all that long to find out who he is, even though there was no ID at all left on the body.
