It’s Jonah’s birthday today. He’s 63 and still adamant that he doesn’t want to retire completely. However, The Chief Super seems determined to move him into a purely advisory role, now that Andy Lepage has been promoted to Detective Inspector. The plan is that he should be retained as a consultant, who gives the likes of Anna, Andy and the others the benefit of his experience as and when it’s needed, but he won’t head up any investigations in his own right. Peter says he ought to jump at the chance of being able to pick and choose what cases to get involved with and not have to do any of the tedious spadework, but we shall see how it pans out next month when the new regime begins.
