Andy is off the case! It turns out that Yakubu Danjuma – the father of the victim – is also Andy’s father! He was the postgraduate student who left Andy’s mum in the lurch and went off back to Nigeria, and his wives and family all those years ago. You couldn’t make it up, could you?
Andy rang Peter after he’d told Anna about his conflict of interest and she’s agreed to take over as SIO. He couldn’t face tea with his mother, so we invited him round and he stayed until after I’d put Jonah to bed. I think he’s finding the whole business vey unsettling. His new-found father is keen to meet him (and is expected to arrive in Oxford next week) while his mother is determined that they won’t have anything to do with him. Not a happy situation.
