I heard through the grapevine (i.e. from the director of the homeless hostel via Father Damien) that Gavin and Chrissie did both seem to enjoy the Christmas lunch with the homeless folk yesterday. Craig Manson seems to have taken them under his wing – perhaps he has experience through his time in the army – and seen to it that they had a good time – or as good as could be possible under the circumstances. It’s a crying shame that he hasn’t been able to hold down a job or any accommodation since he left the forces.
Peter rang Gavin this morning to find out how Chrissie is doing. He says that she’s still wandering round in a daze and, incredibly for her, not doing any baking or even thinking about what they’re going to have for dinner. They’ve got another appointment with the funeral director tomorrow. Gavin’s hoping that will be the catalyst to getting her fired up organising things again. I’m not sure. Maybe she needs to give herself permission to let other people take the strain for a while.
Footie late-night extra - after Liverpool's fantastic vistory over Leicester, they're now 13 points ahead at the top of the league with a game in hand! (And still unbeaten almost halfway through the season.)
