I suppose Jonah will feel vindicated in his decision to work yesterday and today, because it has enabled him to crack the case before Christmas, after all. Admittedly, the key thing was that the forensic scientists finally came up with the evidence to establish which car it was that hit Kenny. That gave us a pretty good idea who the driver was and then it was a simple(!!) matter of breaking their alibi.
Now we can go to Midnight Mass at St Cyprian’s without having Jonah on edge all the time, thinking about new lines of enquiry.
I wonder how Gavin and Chrissie are doing? Gavin couldn’t decide whether to help with the Christmas dinner for the homeless this year. I hope he does. I hate to think of him sitting at home on his own – or even with Chrissie – and knowing that everyone else is celebrating Christmas. We thought of inviting them over here, but seeing all our kids and grandchildren playing happy families might only have made things worse for them. The homeless shelter might be just the thing to keep them from getting lonely without rubbing in Kenny’s absence too much.
