Lucy and I are in Liverpool today checking out the house that Dominic and Ibrahim have picked for them. I'm sure that Peter would have liked to come too - he's concerned that Lucy doesn't end up in some run-down slum property! - but it just wasn't practical for Jonah to come with us just for one night, and there was no-one else available to look after him at home. We must make sure that they can both come on a visit at some point during Lucy's first term.
The house seems very good to me. It has four big bedrooms, which will do as a study-bedroom for each of them. There's a bathroom upstairs and a toilet and shower downstairs. Lucy was pleased to see that the shower room is accessible and that there is a ramp up to the kitchen door from outside. There's a large sitting room, where they're going to have chairs and a bed-settee for guests. The kitchen is big enough to eat in and there's a small utility room for the washing machine and freezer. There's a small garden at the front - just large enough to have been paved to make a hard standing for a car. Ibrahim's the ony one of the four of them who's got one at the moment, so that's OK. Then at the back there's a slightly bigger garden, which will do for drying washing. Mariam says that she's going to have some pots to grow herbs there, and Lucy suggested that they could have window boxes as well.
We've taken lots of photos and posted them up on Facebook for Peter and Jonah to see. Jonah has volunteered to advise on choosing plants for the window boxes.
