It's all turning into a bit of a logistical nightmare! Eddie is working at home, which slightly shortens the hours that Peter needs to look after Ricky and Abigail, but with schools closing, Ricky won't be able to go to nursery, so we'll have both of them around for more of the day. We're trying to keep them both away from Jonah, which means that Jonah is largely confined to his own quarters while the kids are in the house. We've asked Stan to restrict his time for seeing to his birds to times when the youngsters aren't here. Crystal was off-duty today, so Peter was able to say at home with Jonah while I took Sylvia on a shopping expedition. We manged to get enough essentials to keep them going for a while, but the supermarket shelves were very empty and some things simply weren't available. The whole world seems to have gone mad! Luckily for us, we've got a large larder, well-stocked freezers and a garden with fruit trees and a vegetable patch. I've been out planting seed potatoes, peas and beans which will make us reasonably self-sufficient come the summer. The rhubarbs comin up nicely too.
Jonah has reluctant admitted that it is only good sense that he stays at home, but he's insisted on Andy Lepage keeping him briefed by telephone so that he can contribute to the various ongoing cases that he's been involved in. I suppose at least with most of the pubs and bars empty there's less scope for some of the run-of-the-mill crimes like drink-fuelled assaults and pick-pocketing!
