A busy time at work, tying up all the loose ends of the child-abduction case. It sounds strange talking about it like that, as if it wasn't personal at all! It's a pity that we're in a massive heatwave, so everyone's feeling tired and bad tempered. I tried to persuade Jonah to wear something more suited to the weather, but he seems to think that police officers are obliged to stick to suit and tie regardless. I suppose we should be grateful that he's not in uniform and having to wear body-armour against possible knife attacks!
Even the police dogs are feeling the heat! Sergeant Glover, one of the dog-handlers, brought PD Ringo into the station this afternoon, when he came over to confirm the final report on the initial search of the area around the park where Abbie went missing last week, and the poor dog was panting like a steam train! We had to get him a drink from the water cooler to cool him down.
