We held a case conference this morning - just the three of us - to consider which of our suspects we ought to look into first. We decided that Christopher's sister, Paula, was the most likely. Martin, rather reluctantly, introduced us to her. I hope she isn't guilty, because I like her. And I don't want the murderer to be a high-flying female academic, because that won't help to drive up gender equality within higher education in general and Oxford in particular! She confirmed what Vanessa and her family told us about Christopher's character - namely he's an extremely unpleasant narcissistic misogynist. She also pointed us in the direction of another possible suspect - someone else who had reason to thoroughly dislike him and perhaps even to want to get their revenge. Unfortunately, it's not going to be easy for us to track them down, so we've had to ask Paul to do it for us. I don't think he was exactly over the moon about it, but he agreed to do his best. We seem to be having to call in a lot of favours to get anywhere with this.
