2D shapes: Compare and describe features of two-dimensional shapes
Describe and compare two-dimensional shapes, including parallelograms, rectangles, rhombuses, squares, trapeziums and kites
Identify and describe polygons that have parallel sides and those that do not
Identify quadrilaterals that have all sides equal in length
Identify right angles in shapes
Indoor playing area
Students can play at their desk or on the floor.
The rules are simple: the teacher calls out statements about 2D shapes. If the statement is true, students stand up, if it is false, they sit down.
Teacher calls out a statement about a 2D shape, eg. rectangles have opposite sides that are parallel.
If the answer is true, students stand up.
If the answer is false, students sit down.
Continue until you have a winner.
Play with 3D objects.
Students provide statements.
Encourage students to explain their thinking.
