Explore, manipulate and describe features of polygons
Use the terms ‘side’, ‘vertex’ and ‘two-dimensional’ to describe plane (flat) shapes
Compare, sort and classify polygons according to the number of sides or vertices

Shapes
Form groups.
Place shapes at the end of the playing area.
Hoops for sorting shapes.
Teams race to collect 2D shapes to sort into categories.
Identify categories, eg. shapes with 3 sides, 4 sides, 5 sides.
Players take turns to run to the other end, collect a shape and return it to the correct category.
Continue until all objects have been removed.
Perform a gallery walk to look at each teams sorting and listen to their reasons.
Teams create their own categories for sorting.
Set a time limit, e.g. 30 seconds.
Vary the locomotion.
