Use counting sequence of ones flexibly
Count forwards to at least 30 and state the number after or before a given number, without needing to count from one
Count backwards from a given number 20 or less
Marker cones with numbers.
Optional: whiteboard.
Arrange cones with numbers around the playing area.
Students model counting sequences by moving between various spots with different types of travel.
Arrange numbers around the room, eg. 1-20.
Call out a starting number and a sequence e.g. counting forwards 3 numbers or count backwards 2 numbers
Students then link the spots called.
Vary the locomotor moveement used to move between spots e.g. running, skipping, jumping, animal walks.
Count forwards or backwards.
Vary locomotor movement
