Count forwards and backwards by twos from any starting point
Use counting sequences of ones and tens flexibly
Count forwards and backwards by tens, on and off the decade, with two- and three-digit numbers
Marker cones with numbers.
Optional: whiteboard.
Arrange cones with numbers around the playing area.
Players model counting sequences by moving between various spots with different types of travel.
Arrange numbers around the room, eg. 1-10.
Call out a sequence and a starting number (e.g. counting forwards by 1 from 3).
Players then link the spots called.
Vary the way players move between spots e.g. running, skipping, jumping, animal walks.
Optional: players record the counting sequence on a number line.
Change the sequence e.g. even numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, followed by odd numbers 1, 3, 5, 7
Counting backwards.
Use skip counting patterns, eg. 2, 4, 6, 8.
Count by 10s.
