Bean bags (allow 6 per student)
Workbook and pencil or whiteboard and marker
Set up playing area (25m x 25m)
Place bean bags scattered at one end of the playing area.
Form student pairs
Students line up at opposite end.
The aim of this game is to collect 6 bean bags and share them into 2 equal groups. Players run to steal one bean bag at a time. The winner is the first player to increase their total to 6 and share the beanbags into 2 equal groups. Can be an individual or team activity.
Players take it in turns with their partner to run to the end to collect one bean bag at a time.
When the team has collected 6 bean bags, they share them into 2 equal groups.
Students record grouping and sharing using drawings, words and numerals in their workbook or on whiteboard.
Play again and ask students to make 3 equal groups.
Change the number of bean bags to share.
Change the number of hoops to share between.
Increase or decrease size of playing area.
