Recognise and recall number bonds up to ten
Recognise, recall and record combinations of two numbers that add up or bond to form 10
Model and record patterns for individual numbers up to ten by making all possible whole-number combinations (Reasons about patterns)
Create, recall and recognise combinations of two numbers that add up to numbers less than 10
Represent and reason about additive relations
Create, record and recognise combinations of two numbers that add to numbers from 11 up to and including 20.
1 scatter mat per pair or a soft grassed area
Form groups of 2.
Put mats out (if using).
Pairs hold hands and run randomly around the room then, on your call, perform a specified balance.
On ‘GO!’, pairs move freely around the room holding hands until they hear your signal.
Call out numbers, 0-10 or 11-20.
Players find a space and assume a position with the number of body parts called touching the ground. Eg. 5 = 3 feet, 2 hands or 14 = 4 feet, 10 fingers.
Body parts may include feet, bottom, shoulders, knees, hands, backs, elbows.
Players hold their position for a set time (e.g. 10 seconds).
Players must always be in contact with one another to maintain balance.
Discuss different combinations created.
Play in groups of 3 or more.
Call out different numbers.
Create a challenge - make the largest number possible, make the smallest number possible, how many different ways can you make ....?
