Activity set-up
Setup throwing line and hoops (one hoop for ones, tens, hundreds, thousands).
Players roll, throw or hit balls with a bat into a hoop or a bucket to partition a number.
Teacher identifies target number, eg. 1234
Each player rolls, throws or hits the balls / bean bags to partition and rename the number, eg. Player 1 throws 1 ball into thousands, 2 into hundreds, 3 into tens and 4 into ones while Player 2 throws 12 balls into hundreds, 3 into tens and 4 into ones.
Record answers in workbook.
Use bigger or smaller numbers.
Play using decimal numbers.
