The animated version of “Lilo and Stitch” was a movie that many grew up watching, and now that a live-action version of it is being released, those childhood memories are being reimagined with much excitement and nostalgia. Many fans are preparing to see their favorite characters come back to life in a new way. This live-action version was announced to start production back in 2019 and will finally make its way to theaters on May 23rd. Maia Kealoha will play Lilo in this version of the film, and Chris Sanders will return to voice Stitch again. 

The live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” is coming to theaters on June 13th. Mason Thames, who is most known for starring in the movie “The Black Phone,” will play Hiccup. Nico Parker will play Astrid. She is most known for her debut role in the live action of “Dumbo” and her role in the HBO series, “The Last of Us.” This live-action project has been in production since 2023, so it’s safe to say it’s been long-awaited by many animated film fans. 

“Materialists,” an A24 film, will be released in theaters on June 13th. This romantic comedy features many well-known actors, including Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. The movie will take place in New York City and follow a matchmaker who is torn between a new perfect match and her ex. Many are anticipating the release of this film due to the combination of these three actors, who are fan favorites. 

A new version of “Superman”, directed by James Gunn, is coming out on July 11th. It will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. This film has been in the works since late 2022, and filming began in early 2024. It’s meant to serve as a reboot for the Superman franchise, providing a fresh take on the story with new faces. 

“Skillhouse” will follow ten influencers who get lured into a content house where they’re forced to compete in survival-like social media challenges. This movie comes out on July 11th. It will include some influencers such as Bryce Hall and Hannah Stocking. 

“I Know What You Did Last Summer” is about a group of friends who are terrorized by a stalker who knows about an incident that happened in the past that they are trying to keep secret. This movie will be released on July 18th. There are a couple of popular actors starring in this movie, such as Madelyn Cline, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. This movie is a legacy sequel and is a direct continuation of the 1997 original and 1998 sequel titled “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.”

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is based on the superhero team appearing in the comic books published by Marvel Comics. It will include Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Production for this film finished in November 2024 and is being released on July 25th. 

“Freakier Friday” is the sequel to the iconic movie “Freaky Friday” that was released in 2003. Both Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will return to reprise their roles as Tess and Anna, as well as Chad Michael Murray for his role as Jake. This movie will include another swap, however, Anna will swap with her daughter, and Tess will swap with her stepdaughter. This film will be released on August 8th. 

Season 3 of “Ginny and Georgia” will premiere on Netflix on June 5th. Fans have been anticipating this season, after filming had been delayed due to actor strikes. The season had left off on a major cliffhanger, with Georgia being hauled off to jail. The series has already been renewed for a 4th season, which will probably come out next year. 

“We Were Liars” will premiere on June 18th on Amazon Prime Video. It is based on the novel by E. Lockhart. The story follows a 17-year-old girl from a wealthy family who experiences a terrible accident that causes her to struggle to remember past events in her life. The book came out nearly a decade ago and is loved by many. 

The third season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is set to come out on July 16th on Amazon Prime Video. This will be the final season of the series following the book, “We’ll Always Have Summer.” Episodes will come out weekly on Wednesdays, ending on September 10th.
