Finals week is right around the corner, and while we are all excited for summer, there is a lot of stress that comes with the end-of-year tests and projects. That being said, I am going to give insight on the top three ways to make finals week less stressful.
The first way is to utilize your time wisely. During the week, there are a lot of breaks between finals and the time after school. Even though it is hard with summer being so close, now is the time to cram all of the studying and hard work so that you can feel accomplished and fulfilled by the time summer is here.
Another way to use your time wisely is to take all your materials and assignments and organize them. Now would be a good time to throw away papers that will not be helpful to study, to make it easier on yourself when you are cleaning out your backpack. You can use all of the valuable papers to look over everything from the semester to help you remember the things you did back in January.
More ways to prepare for the test are to get enough sleep and eat a good breakfast. There will be some days when you don’t have to be at school during the morning block, so use that time to make sure you are well-rested and completely prepared for the test. Preparing for a test does not always have to mean studying the content for the class, You also have to be in a good headspace and ready to go.
Something that has helped me to understand the material in a class is to study with friends. This will make studying more fun and less like a chore. Another hack is to pretend like you are the teacher and you are teaching a friend what you learned in the class. I have found that if you know a concept well enough to teach it, then you will do great on the test.
The last tip I have is not to worry! I know it’s easier said than done, but usually the horrible expectations of a test are greater than the actual test itself. Be confident and show what you have learned all semester.
That concludes the five pieces of advice that I have for finals week coming up. The Gambit staff wishes everyone a stress-free finals week and a relaxing summer!
